I try not to take for granted any blessing that the Lord gives
me, no matter how seemingly insignificant it would be. There was a time in
my life when
I remember asking God to allow me the opportunity to someday meet these men
that
I look up to and admire for their passion, zeal for God and singular pursuit
of obedience to His will. I thought to myself, maybe if I could just meet
them, maybe the Lord would pass some of their anointing my way. I don’t
think that it necessarily has to work that way but I hope I never let an opportunity
go
by where I could receive a blessing and not get it. Jacob had that kind of
zeal and the Lord blessed him for it. We live in a culture where we are taught
to admire worldly men who love violence and whose god is their bellies. I
live in Los Angeles and very often I run into celebrities. I see the way people
react to them and get all excited and stumble all over themselves for autographs
and acknowledgement. It pains me to see that. Celebrities have such a forum
to influence the culture and most often they shirk that responsibility or
use
it for personal gain or to forward ungodly agendas. I long for a time when
our celebrities will be the Lou Engles, Jim Golls, and Mike Bickles of the
world. Fill in any name of a person that you admire for their commitment
to seeking God first, enduring persecution and carrying on the work of the
gospel
mostly unnoticed until years have gone by and perhaps a few will get a public
forum. Nut they know that a far greater reward awaits them in heaven.
If you’re someone that seeks God diligently and works to save souls,
set captives free and heal the lame then as far as I am concerned you are
bigger celebrity than any of those so called megastars.
